Workflow Automation

New Berlin Plastics produces a wide range of custom molded plastic products, often used in an OEM’s final product. As is common in custom manufacturers, when a customer order is won, the company must undergo a process of pre-production approval planning (PPAP) to make sure the part to be manufactured conforms to specification before produced in volume. PPAP requires numerous steps including product design and engineering, specifying and sourcing materials, and defining the manufacturing process including molds or other tools used in production. The process requires work inputs from people at the manufacturer, its customer, and its suppliers, and it can be very cumbersome, with risk of missed delivery dates and poor production quality if moved to production with design flaws.

SSR studied the business problem with the experts at New Berlin Plastics and developed a software tool that brings together all parties in the process in a unified workflow solution providing all parties with a shared data repository and automated regular reporting and analytics key internal and external stakeholders. The results of implementing this software can be illustrated as below.
